At heart, Catena is a story about family. Family who poured their lives, passion and spirit into transforming scrub-laden desert into some of the most beautiful and unique vineyards in the world. • Tasting notes

Aromas of ripe pear and apple with soft tropical fruit and baking spices on the palate. A creamy, lengthy finish.

  • Viticultural notes

Through decades of study and exploration within Mendoza's high altitude mountain terroirs, the Catena family has identified special locations for its Estate vineyards. The grapes for this wine are sourced from four separate vineyards and harvested at different times.

  • Winemaking notes

Whole cluster pressed; fermented sur lies in barrels and stainless steel. Wild yeasts were used and 60% of the juice underwent malolactic fermentation. Aged 10 months in French oak with second- and third- fill barrels used.

    May 2019

Catena makes some of the best Chardonnays in the southern hemisphere, excelling even at this comparatively modest price level. Combining fruit from the Uco Valley with 10% from Agrelo, it’s a modern, yeasty, citrus-tinged style with very subtle wood and pithy acidity.
