What a pleasure it is to revisit Azelia's 2004 Barolo. Beautifully layered and expressive in the glass, the 2004 is striking in every way. Dark red cherry, plum and spice are pushed forward in this gorgeous, entry-level offering. Think of Azelia's Barolo as equivalent to a village-level Burgundy from a top grower. It is every bit that seductive. The blend is 40% Cerretta, 30% Voghera (young vines) and 30% parcels in Castiglione Falletto next to Bricco Fiasco. The 2004 spent two years in cask.
