Dr. Madaiah Revana was bitten by the wine bug early in his medical career. After spending years travelling, collecting and enjoying the fine wines of Europe and California he became interested in purchasing a vineyard. Setting his sights high Dr. Revana sought out the assistance of renowned Vineyard Manager Jim Barbour (of Hundred Acre fame amongst others) to assist in finding and planting a property. In 1997 Dr. Revana purchased two separate parcels in the north east section of St. Helena in...
Deep floral and fruit notes of red currant, blackberry, violets, mocha and cedar Smoke on the nose. Enjoy a full-bodied entry with generous rainier cherry and savory olive tapenade which leads to a toasted brioche, cocoa nib and butterscotch finish.
Wine quality begins in the vineyard. The Revana Estate Vineyard is situated in a prime part of St. Helena where deep, well-drained alluvial soils pair with warm days and cool nights to provide an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Hands-on vineyard management ensures that the natural potential of each vine is realized and only perfect Cabernet grapes are brought into the winery.
Employing natural yeasts, gentle maceration and attention to every detail, winemaker Thomas Brown continues the tradition of making world-class Cabernet Sauvignon by crafting wines of purity, depth, character and elegance. Grapes were whole-cluster hand sorted. A five day cold-soak was performed prior to 14-16 day whole berry fermentation. The wine spent 20 months in French Oak and was aged for 12 months in bottle.

The ’14 and ’15 vintages were acclaimed, but 2016 is likely the best I have experienced for cabernet sauvignon from Napa in decades. Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and vineyard manager Jim Barbour have been focused on biodynamic farming practices at Revana Vineyard, and in 2016 only four individual vineyard blocks made it into the Estate Vineyard Cabernet. The nose is more floral with a light hint of exotic five spice. The attack is fresh with rich blackberry flecked with fig jam and smoky, cedar toasted oak. I like the elegance here but don’t be fooled; there is plenty of power lurking underneath. Drink or hold five to seven years. The Estate Cab is picked over 10 days from September 13 to 23. It is clone 337 from the St. Helena AVA. It spends 20 months in French Oak and 12 months in bottle before release. Only 100 six-packs were made.See detailed press review

Juicy and fresh, with a well-focused beam of red currant, damson plum and cherry fruit streaming through, harnessed by light mineral, floral and savory streaks. Fresh cut on the finish brings you back for more. An understated style, this wins on purity and precision.See detailed press review
