Argiano is a beautiful estate in the southern western portion of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The estate has a long history of excellence in the region and is reaching new heights under new ownership. Aromas of black berry fruit, spices, well integrated oak, chocolate and coffee. Soft and round palate with great acidity. Firm but soft tannins. Powerful and explosive, it maintains a surprising freshness.
Vineyards are 15-22 years of age sitting at altitudes between 280-310 metres above sea level. Alluvial soils with the presence of sand and limestone marl.
Each grape varietal is fermented separately, then macerated for about 20 days, with malolactic fermentation occurring in concrete tanks. The wine is aged 18 months in French oak barriques (60% new and 40% second fill).
